MUSEUM OF FISHES & GREENS

Opening May 22, 4-7pm

May 22 - June 28, Scenic Hudson’s River Center, Beacon, NY

Soon is Now presents Museum of Fishes & Greens, a collaboration between the Food Studio Collective, social practice artists from Kolkata, India and women from fishing and farming communities in the Sundarbans, where climate change is not a distant future but a lived, recurring reality.

In March and April 2026, the Food Studio Collective, led by curator Sayantan Maitra Boka and the Rangabelia Mahila Industrial Cooperative Society, a women-led cooperative that tackles poverty and empowers women, held an exchange of ideas and art workshops. Women made batik saris from their original drawings of fishes and greens inspired by conversations on climate’s impact on food sources, and their knowledge on how to survive and thrive. They also made paper from local plants and produced hand-crafted cookbooks of their recipes. By translating culinary, fishing and agricultural narratives into experimental textiles and books, this project imagines women-led models of resilience.

Soon is Now brings this immersive multi-media installation, including a new video, to Scenic Hudson’s River Center, Long Dock Park, Beacon, NY from May 22 - June 28. Museum of Fishes & Greens is an Upstate Art Weekend participant.
