InVASive Arrangements: Vases Constructed from River Flotsam for Holding Bad Weeds
A Workshop at The River Center with Soon is Now Artists-in-Residence
Andrew Brehm & Jennifer Lauren Smith
The artists led a cleanup walk to salvage blocks of marine foam along the banks of the Hudson River. They led the class through a process to transform the foam into functional vases using a combination of sculptural mediums and techniques. Students then learned to identify common invasive plants and harvested them to create an ikebana-inspired arrangements for the vases.
Scenic Hudson published an article about the class. Make Hudson River Waste into Eco-Art
